Diagnostic Radiography (XR)
X-rays were discovered by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on November 8, 1895. Since the initial discovery, technology has evolved rapidly. X-ray technology has progressed from film radiography, to computed radiography, to today's digital radiography. Digital radiography (DR) is an advanced form of x-ray inspection which produces a digital radiographic image instantly on a computer.
At Ellett Memorial Hospital, our ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologists operate Canon digital X-ray equipment - the Omnera stationary X-ray and Soltus portable X-ray. Digital radiography boasts better quality, faster exam times and lower patient doses compared to computed radiography.
How to prepare for an X-ray Exam:
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Avoid clothing with snaps or zippers.
- You may be asked to remove your clothing and dress in a hospital gown.
- You will need to remove any metal objects in the area of interest - such as jewelry, keys, loose change, cell phones, etc.
